New Holland Night Tripper is not to be confused to with Indeed Day Tripper, but is just about is hoppy in bitterness and hop flavor. This once a year offering is all about things I love in my Imperial Stouts. It's hoppy, roasty, and thick.

When you pour Night Tripper into a glass you get a completely black non translucent color with less than half an inch of persistent tan head. The aroma is a crisp earthy bitterness with a supporting charred bread character. The flavor gets much better; bitter chocolate, grassy hop character, coffee astringency and sweet white bread all come into play. I get a moderately lively carbonation and a dry finish on this big beer making it surprisingly refreshing. My overall impression is that Night Tripper is great under the radar Imperial Stout that I could see myself buying more of.
