I have been meaning to try some Lift Bridge Irish Coffee Stout for over a year now, so when Andrew mentioned he had more than a few bottles from working at Lift Bridge when it was bottled, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to get someone to open a bottle when I was around. At the end of the night this Saturday we cracked open a bottle and it turned out to be a really unique treat. The thing that stands out to me the most was the integration of all the flavors. Coffee, roasted malt and chocolate all in harmony. A lot of tannin from the wood stood out and wasn't overdone. There was a normal carbonation level and a thick body making this a complex sipper. This is a really well refined barrel aged beer making me feel like there is quite a bit of expertise about this subject at Lift Bridge. Impressive.
