We are well into October it seems, the sky is filled with the grey gloomy clouds of fall and the oncoming winter chill is in the air. So this week, let’s take a more relaxed look at what we can agree is a time for an uncomplicated, yet flavorful wine. My thoughts first went to that McManis Family Merlot; this offering of theirs is just that wine. A gentle opening of dark fruit flavors and a touch of spice greet you, followed closely by an even gentler tannic dryness paired with an enticing blackberry juiciness finishing with a pleasant, almost creamy vanilla, oaky finish. This wine is not only friendly and very approachable, but also uncomplicated and flavorful, making it a great companion for these gloomy, chill filled days ahead.
