Local craft beer plus a house made Reuben, it doesn't get much better than this. As soon as I heard that Ward 6 had both of these and was close to work it has been on my list of places to go. Last weekend, Frank and I decided to check it out after hearing good things.
The place has a very modern, yet cozy feel with an open kitchen and new furnishings. A giant bar lines most of he space with a wide selection of recognizable local tap handles. The place reminds me of Mackenzie in Minneapolis with more modern design. On Saturday night, we saddled up to the long bar and took a few minutes to look over the beer menu.
Highlights were Steel Toe Dissent, Pour Decisions Patersbier, and Surly Smoke along with a good amount of other Minnesota craft beer options as all of their taps but Hamms are local. I grabbed a Pour Decisions Patersbier and got my order for a Reuben in pretty quickly. In the meantime we got to talk with Eric, one of the owners, who is definitely passionate about craft beer and somehow found an entire case of Bourbon County Cherry Rye sitting around on a recent trip out east.
Loved the Reuben, really juciy. The Patersbier was as crisp, characterful, and refreshing as I remembered. The place has a neighborhood hangout vibe. Will definitely stop back some time soon. Great to have another craft beer option in St. Paul. I will leave you with this mesmerizing video (that was not taken by me) of the faucet in Ward 6's bathroom.
