Tavernello Pinot Grigio

by Andrew Orantes

The second act of our Wine of the Month is taking us to Italy, the historical home of the Pinot Grigio grape and home to the Tavernello Winery. Tavernello brings a new life to the Pinot Grigio by adding a deeper honey color and heavier viscosity, but still remaining light on the tongue keeping with the tradition of light flavor and full body. Starting with the nose of this friendly bottle, we are greeted with a pleasant waft of acidy citrus fruits and spring time. The flavor is equal in fruit and acid but balances out with a fresh sweet honeyness that cuts through it all to make a flavorful round experience. The finish is light and lingering making one almost yearning for dessert cakes or romantic evenings. Grab a bottle, sit on your deck and watch that sunset. I dare you.
