I recently made sure we re-ordered some Ardbeg not only because it is one of the best values for an Islay single malt, but because I wanted some for personal consumption. Ardbeg has it's own unique flavor profile that is quite peat forward but enjoys a soothing salt water quality with a very oily, coating mouth feel. This complexity works wonders on the very light malt base that lacks much vanilla or caramel notes from barrel aging on purpose.

Ardbeg is not the best intro to single malts as it has some aggressive flavors but for those that love peat bombs this is a very affordable bottle that doesn't go overboard with the phenol flavor. At just ten years it shows as refined but the defining peat is still bright. For the high end of an everyday bottle pricing (depending on your budget) this is a real winner worth seeking out.
