So I had this great wine to feature this week, and right before I wrote the review for it, I sadly realized it was not in the Moscato family. I was somewhat disappointed in my poor planning. On a positive note though, I have a great wine for a later date!

This week the feature is something I have sold and stared at for years, the Cupcake Moscato D'Asti. Cupcake is known for making a quality product for a great price, one great example is the Cupcake Red Zin that we carry and have on sale! But yes, Cupcake is pretty slick, they are a winery that sources their grapes from growers around the world and produces a wine that is a balance between a great example to the style and a flavor enjoyable by the novice and the connoisseur alike. With their Moscato they did not disappoint, the grapes are sourced from the Asti region of Italy, known for their sweet sparkling whites and bold reds, then shipped stateside for national distribution. I was pleased to find that this wine was not nearly as sweet as I had expected and boasted some very floral and lychee like aromas and a soft effervescence and peachy notes. I would enjoy this wine with many things, but what comes to mind first is a hot summer day and a bowl of fresh fruit and creme fraiche. Celebratory or not, this bottle is something great to have on hand all summer long.
