Grilling & Wine Pt. 1

This month we will be featuring wine to pair with food off the grill, and not only does that mean wine pairing, but also recipes that use that same wine in preparation, so keep your eyes peeled on the newsletter and here for some great summer grilling ideas ranging from vegetarian skewers to fish & beef dishes. First up on the docket is the Cline Cellars Zinfandel, an amazingly versatile wine I have featured a couple times and one that is my usual "go to" wine for grilled foods. The meal of choice was ginger-lemon chicken skewers and grilled brussel sprouts, and considering I don't typically do red wine with white meat I was surprised when all the final flavors paired up into something amazing. At first I was skeptical of my decision because the fruity acidity of the Zin and the sharpness of the ginger-lemon marinade weren't something I expected to work well together, but with the added side of brussel sprouts, which added a butteriness to the meal, all the flavors mellowed and the acidity and sharpness of the wine and marinade married together and made for a great lunch.
